Firstly, we are here altogether for one of the last concerts of our ambassadors’ return to Turkey if I am not mistaken, and Secondly and the most important we have gathered here for Ahmet Ertegün jazz concert series. I know you are all her for the concert but I want a promise from you all. I have heard its’ the 99th anniversary of the concerts. I want you all to be here next year for the 100th anniversary of it. Next years’ anniversary will be on me. ”
Yücel also stated that there will be a combination of Jazz and Anatolian Music and said “A different experience will be here tonight. We are going to hear not only Jazz music but also a combination and harmony of freedom and independence coming from Anatolian culture. We, as a University, have done many novel and significant things in terms of science, technical and research and we try to do the same in art as well and I believe we have done in the previous 5 years. First, we focused on Turkish folk music, Turkish cultural music and now jazz. Why Jazz? Every institution has its’ priorities like we do. We prioritize freedom. We prioritize independence. We do not care about the language, religion or race, thus we have chosen Jazz. When we take Jazz, we see it always finds itself a place everywhere in the world without any prejudices. İt has not been alienated and showed its’ presence and said I am here as well. I am a human as well wanted be free and independent. That is what Jazz is in my view. Tonight we are going to experience the scream of Jazz and Turkish Anatolian music. Tonight will be a new experience for you all. At some point we have called this the harmony of Turkish Jazz and Turkish Folk music. I believe ıt will maintain itself. Now, I also want to repeat that our dear ambassador has realized this event for the memory of Ahmet Ertegün and to thank you all for being here today. Finally I also want to thank Bahceşehir University Art Director and congratulate all the musicians.
Audience had a great time with the performance of the Jazz group called “East in Jazz Project.”
