A Brand New Model Begins in University Admissions: Apply BAU
The “Admission” (Application – Acceptance) system applied in the world’s prestigious universities is brought to life for the first time in Turkey in Bahçeşehir University (BAU). The model, where before their exams the personal characteristics, skills, projects, requests and more importantly dreams of the university candidates come into prominence, creates opportunities for candidates to be a university student before the exam.
The candidates by making submission through the website www.applybau.com can be a part of the called Apply BAU model. In addition to the high school students who will enter to university entrance exam this year and high school graduates, any student from any university that will enter to the exam again can apply to Apply BAU.
With Apply BAU, a change to benefit from scholarships has being created before the university entrance exam to candidates related to their dreamed department. Thus, candidates can choose their in a real sense their department and university wanted and universities get the chance to know their future students.
The Apply BAU model that will be implemented for the first time this year in BAU will be brought to life in the first phase for the engineering faculty and medical school. Candidates can do their selections only for those faculties. And starting next year, the other faculties and departments will be implemented in the Apply BAU system.
HOW TO APPLY?
To participate to Apply BAU candidates should make their applications until the 15 July 2014 at www.applybau.com . The candidates who applied and get the “letter of acceptance”, in the case that they are places in the relevant department of Bahçeşehir University by SSPC, won the right to start their education through Apply BAU.
HOW TO HANDLE THE MODEL?
A “Letter of Acceptance” will be sent to candidates who get an assessment of application and those who qualify by Bahçeşehir University. In the letter of acceptance the appropriate amount of scholarship will be mentioned. Students, whom score the sufficient grade in the Turkish university entrance exam (OSYS) and select the "without scholarship" option for a department in BAU, will be able to register to BAU via using the scholarship fee in their acceptance letter.

Our University continues with success the teaching-learning process in international standards’ in the different part of the World. In our analysis, in the leading prestigious universities of developed countries, we saw that they have their own student admission system and get quite successful results.
In Turkey, one of the four students who applied to university entrance exam once a year currently is studying at any university. Another striking result specific to our country is that more than a half of youths who graduated from our universities work at a job outside of their field of study. This situation both in terms of human resources and country economy is a serious loss.
Thus, as Bahçeşehir University, we have started the “Apply BAU” Project in order that youths who want to study in universities can study in programs according to their abilities. Its first implementation will begin this year in our Engineering Faculty and Medical School. In coming years, we are continuing our efforts to spread these practices in all of our faculties.
