BAHÇEŞEHİR UNIVERSITY COMPANSATION EXAMS ( Exams given after finals exams to students who failed in final exams) APPLICATION RULES
With the letter dated from 06.22.2012 and numbered 5854 by Council of Higher Education, reported in accordance with the decision taken in the meeting held on 06.19.2012 at the Board of Higher Education, will formalize the following principles that shall apply to compensation exams.
1) For all courses, except practical courses (graduation projects, teaching practice, theses, etc.), which are offered year or semester long, compensation exams ( second final exam) will be held on the scheduled dates as given in the academic calendar. These exams are held after final exams grades announced in the OIS system. Compensation exams for some courses as English Preparatory School courses and any course its education - teaching structure is not appropriate for compensation exam are not given by the decision of the relevant Faculty / Vocational School Executive Boards. The decision of the Faculty / Vocational School Executive Boards for those courses must be approved by the University Senate.
2) Compensation exams of the finals are given for the yearly courses which are offered on ongoing academic year after finals and before summer school.
3) Compensation exams of the finals are given for the semester courses which are offered on ongoing semester after finals and before summer school.
4) There will be no compensation exam for the courses which are taken at the summer school .
5) Compensation exams for the courses which had been taken from other institutions will not be given at Bahçeşehir University. Compensation exam for these courses can be taken from where the courses are taken.
6) There won’t be any additional or separate compensation exams for foreign exchange students (World Exchange, Erasmus etc.) or any student. These students can participate to the compensation exams which are scheduled for all students.
7) At the end of one year / semester ( programs on the basis of year of education / programs on the basis of semester of education), students whom are entitled to take finals for that year / that semester courses are also entitled to take compensation exams in accordance with the conditions of Article-10 and Article-11 for those courses.
8) Students who were entitled to take final exams for year / semester courses but who did not participate in them can participate in their compensation exams if they satisfy the conditions of Article-10 and Article-11 .
9) Students who did not satisfied attendance requirements for any course or who were not completed all requirements to take final exams for any reasons (W,U ve NA) cannot take compensation exam.
10) If any two year degree and undergraduate student is entitled to take final exam of a course can take compensation exams if her/his course grade C-, D+, D or F.
11) A graduate students is entitled to take final exam of a course can take compensation exams if her/his course grade B-, C+, C or F.
12)Compensation exams are conducted by the course instructors. If any reason instructor is not able to administer compensation exam executive board of Faculty or vocational school decided who will administer compensation exam.
13) The course grade after compensation exam is determined as course grade after final as explained in article 14. It includes all grades and compensation exam grade. Only students' course grades who attended compensation exam will be changed in OIS system.
14) The grades of compensation exams for the finals are recognized / considered as the grades of the finals. Course grade after compensation exam is calculated as explained in course syllabus.
15) There will not be any make-up exams for final and compensation exams.
16) If a valid excuse of a student covers final and compensation exams periods and it is accepted by Faculty / Vocational School executive board, the final exam compensation exams rights of the student will be given when the course is first offered term. Such course credits do not counted as registered courses and they are restricted with other rules. Student can only use this right once when course first time offered. date: 20130523 (Senate decision)
