A Kazakhstan Day in BAU
In honor of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Day Celebration, a conference was held on the November 27 at Bahçeşehir University Beşiktaş Campus by the President of Kazakhstan, Mr. Nursultan Nazarbayev. In his introduction, BAU Rector Prof. Dr. Şenay Yalçın called Nazarbayev a realistic and visionary governor.
Bahçeşehir University hosted the “Celebration Day of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan”. TASAM President Süleyman Şensoy, TÜRKSOY General Secretary Prof. Dr. Düysen Kaseinov, and Ankara’s Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan Prof. Dr. Canseyit Tüymebayev attended the event. Bahçeşehir University Rector Prof. Dr. Şenay Yalçın gave the opening speech.
A REALISTIC AND VISIONARY GOVERNOR
Yalçın, speaking at “The Republic of Kazakhstan Foreign Policy and its Founder President Nursultan Nazarbayev Conference," stated that through Nazarbayev’s very balanced, realistic, and visionary management approach, the Republic of Kazakhstan (which declared its independence in 1991) has reached a respectable level in the international arena and may become a rising star.
Yalçın recalled that it took Turkey just two hours to recognize Kazakhstan after it’s declaration of independence, and he added that the friendship between the two countries is unshakable as it is based on thousands of years of shared history and cultural heritage. He pointed to the fact that the first Kazakhstan Turkey Strategic Partnership Agreement became an exemplary case of strategic partnerships for the Turkish World.
“THE YOUTHS OF BOTH COUNTRY SHOULD BE TRAINED”
President Nazarabeyev emphasized the importance of increasing the education level of the Turkish and Kazakh youth by saying, “In order to establish robust international relationships, broad minded and educated people with a globalized approach are needed.”
Prof. Yalçın pointed out that it was no coincidence for this event to be held at BAU, which is the private university that accepts the most international students in Turkey. In order to give BAU graduates the international vision, knowledge, and skills to be able work anywhere in the world, BAU offers students 14 international academic centers, including 5 campuses abroad. Yalçın said, “I believe that opening a campus in Kazakhstan will further improve ties of friendship between us.”
Prof. Dr. Hasret Çomak from Kocaeli University, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Taşağıl from Mimar Sinan University of Fine Art, Turkish Deputy General Secretary of the Council Prof. Dr. Darhan Kıdırali, Dr. İbrahim Kalkan from Kırıkkale University and Dr. Serdar Yılmaz from Arel University also made presentations at the event.
