The Chair of the Department of Transport Engineering and UYGAR (Transportation Research Center), Prof. Dr. Mustafa ILICALI, and department students attended the opening of Marmaray.
Bahçeşehir University UYGAR Center and the Department of Transportation Engineering’s full team participated in the opening ceremony of Marmaray held on Tuesday 29 October at 15:00. Upon the invitation of the Minister of Maritime Transportation and Communication, Binali Yıldırım, to the “Yenikapı Station Status Review Meeting”, the Chair of the Transportation Engineering Department and President of UYGAR, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Ilıcalı was on site the whole day of Tuesday, 29 October, 2013 at the project area, and was a guest on TRT Haber, where he evaluated the project. Ilıcalı attended the ceremony with Transportion Engineering Department students (the first students of thenewly opened department).
On the Marmaray opening day, after his appearance on TV channel TRT Haber, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Ilıcalı and students from the Department of Transportion Engineering, finished the day with live broadcasts on TV8 and ÜLKE TV. Ilıcalı, in his statements that he made at his TV appearances with his students, explained the importance of the Marmaray. As large-scale investments such as this one continue to increase, the “Transportation Engineering Undergraduate Program,” which has been needed for many years has opened for the first time in Turkey.
