BAU President Prof. Dr. Şenay Yalçın’s Message to the International Students

Dear International Students,
 

Greetings for the 2013-2014 academic year at Bahçeşehir University (BAU).  Whether you are with us at BAU for a semester or year exchange, or have enrolled in a full-degree program, I wanted to take this time to welcome you to our campus, our city and our country.  You are part of a rich and diverse international student body, the largest group we have ever had, with students coming from more than 80 different countries.  With an educational mission dedicated to providing international opportunities, your presence on our campus is just one example of the success we have had as a university in achieving the goal of internationalization of our campus. As one of the oldest foundations universities in this country, we have worked for over fifteen years to make BAU the international university of Turkey. I thank you for your contributions to this effort.
 

Being an international student at BAU is a wonderful opportunity. You will find in your time here that there will be many chances for you to embrace the local culture of our city and country, and the international culture of our university.  I encourage you to interact with your classmates, your instructors, and your peers to learn more about life in Istanbul, the capital of three empires and in Turkey, the home to countless civilizations.  There are numerous ways in which you can benefit from your time here. Whether it is engaging in your studies, participating in student clubs, working in an internship, exploring the only city in the world to straddle two continents, or taking weekend visits to some of the most famous touristic sites in the world, you will grow as a student and as a person.  It is my hope that the experiences you have at BAU and in Turkey will form long-lasting and positive memories which you will take with you back to your home countries. 
 

Once again, welcome to Bahçeşehir University.  I am confident that you will have one of the most memorable experiences of your life, and I again encourage you to take full advantage of the opportunities available to you as an international student at BAU.
