Bahçeşehir University 2013-2014 academic year was opened with a ceremony held on Monday 16 September 2013.
Bahçeşehir University (BAU)inaugurated the 2013-2014 academic year with a ceremony at the Beşiktaş Campus. The opening speech of the ceremony attended by Bahçeşehir University Chairman of the Board of Trustees Enver Yücel, BAU Rector Prof. Dr. ŞenayYalçın, and administrative and academic staff of the university was made by the President of the BAU Student Council,MelihElidüzgün.
BAU’s Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Design Prof. Dr. Ahmet Eyüce, who passed away last month, was commemorated during the ceremony.
BAU’s Rector, Prof. Dr. SenayYalcin , in his speech, mentioned the events taking place in Turkey and around the region,and said that he believes all the problems can be solved in peace with the culture of living together , respect for the human mind, all kinds ofrespect fordifferences and wiseuse ofthe human mind.
Yalcin, sayingthat education constitutes one of the major dynamics of the country’s development, notes that private education institutions in Turkey should achieve the same education and training opportunities as in developed countries as soon as possible. He added that competition in education is important and only this way will the quality be provided.
“WE ARE DEVELOPING IMPRESSIVELY”
Stating that BAU is developing impressively, especially in the past two years, BAU’s Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Enver Yücel, thanked all the administrative and academic staff who have contributed to this success. Yücel said “Bahçeşehir University’s family and academic staff of the faculty have established a strong trust such that the highest scoring student of the university entrance exams selected BAU’s School of Medicine.”
“THE NUMBER OF INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS SHOULD BE INCREASED FROM 30 THOUSAND TO 250 THOUSAND”
Noting that the university performed many of the stated goals since its founding; Yücel said that the most important one was “being international.” Saying, “Now we are the best university in Turkey working in the international arena,” he pointed out that, with respect to statistics, the top reasons students prefer our university is an excess of international opportunities. Adding that the number of international students is insufficient in Turkey, he said “Turkey, due to the importance of its strategic location, is more advantageous for international student exchanges. Now, the number of international students studying in Turkey is about 30 thousand. This number should rise to 250 thousands.”
Yücel, indicating that anywhere in the world there is injustice in studies, corruption and problems such as attempting to suppress the freedom of thought, added that the most important is freedom of thought and to maintain the working environment; he promised to exercise the necessary protective measures for conservation work.
