Bahçeşehir University (BAU) is opening the 'Maritime and Global Strategy Center,' directed by retired Rear Admiral Cihat Yaycı.
Through the 'Maritime and Global Strategy Center' to be opened at Bahçeşehir University, retired Rear Admiral Cihat Yaycı, who prepared the groundwork for the Memorandum of Understanding on the Delimitation of Maritime Jurisdiction Areas signed with Libya, aims to fill the existing knowledge gap in the maritime field in Türkiye and, without being limited to a single field, to produce policy documents by conducting analyses and assessments in critically important areas such as law, politics and international relations.
Names such as Prof. Dr. Ebru Canan Sokullu and former Minister of Maritime Affairs Burhan Kara will also serve at the center, which aims to publish papers and organize seminars on many topics such as the Aegean Islands, international maritime law, strategy, the continental shelf and the declaration of exclusive economic zones (EEZ), and to become an international think tank. Integrating with the system of BAU Global's wide network in places such as Washington DC, Berlin, Cyprus and Batumi, the center will carry out work aimed at solving problems in the maritime sector.
