Announcement on Non-Thesis to Thesis / Thesis to Non-Thesis Transfer Applications

Applications for transfer to thesis or non-thesis master's programs in the Spring semester of the 2022-2023 academic year will start on 12 December 2022 andend on 3 February 2023 .
Points to Consider Before and After the Transfer Process:
- A student who wishes to transfer to a thesis master's program must have studied in the non-thesis master's program in which they are enrolled for at least one and at most two semesters, and must have taken and passed all courses of that semester. (Transfers to thesis programs are not possible from non-thesis programs that have no thesis alternative or from Distance Education programs.)
- Meeting the minimum requirements set for the thesis master's program applied for
- The grade point average (GPA) must be at least 3.00
- A student who wishes to transfer to a thesis master's program must obtain at least 55 in the relevant ALES score type specified by the program applied for, and must document this. ALES scores are valid for 5 years.

- 2 letters of reference from faculty members whose courses the student took during the master's program
(REQUIRED ONLY FOR TRANSFERS TO THESIS PROGRAMS)
The Non-Thesis to Thesis / Thesis to Non-Thesis Transfer Formmust be filled out completely.
- Students who wish to transfer to a non-thesis master's programmust apply by the end of the second semester at the latest.Filling out the Non-Thesis to Thesis / Thesis to Non-Thesis Transfer Formand submitting it to the Graduate School is sufficient.
*Transfers will be evaluated within the quotas by ranking (based on ALES scores and GPA).
Regarding the transfer of students who fail the thesis course to a non-thesis program (outside the quota)

(10) Upon the request of a student whose thesis is rejected, a non-thesis master's diploma is awarded, provided that the student has fulfilled the course credit load, project writing and similar requirements of the non-thesis master's program. If the thesis master's program does not have an approved non-thesis master's program, the student is placed, by decision of the graduate school executive board, in the non-thesis program closest to the thesis program, and the diploma is awarded from that non-thesis program. A student in this situation is given an additional period of at most one semester to complete any deficiencies. If the student has reached the maximum period of study, they cannot exercise their student rights.
