Epic Theater in Türkiye

The new academic year at BAU Conservatory began with the first lecture by master artist Rutkay Aziz on the theme "Epic Theater in Türkiye."

For its 2024-2025 academic opening lecture, the Bahçeşehir University Conservatory hosted Rutkay Aziz, advisor to the Department of Performing Arts.

In the lecture, held under the title The Tradition of Epic Theater in Türkiye, the importance of the analytical, critical perspective in the epic-dialectical approach to theater and the artistic productions of theater companies in 1960s Türkiye were discussed. Bertolt Brecht and the relationship that his theater theory, epic-dialectical theater, establishes through the actor and the audience were discussed through the productions of the Ankara Art Theater, one of the major representatives of political theater. Our academic year opening lecture concluded after students asked Rutkay Aziz their questions in the Q&A session.
