BAU Students Are Learning English From Their Mobiel Phone

The Bahçeşehir University (BAU) Preparatory School, in order to learn English in a more effective and fun way, has designed a program in the cooperation with EnglishCentral the Google Corporation that can be used on mobile phones and tablets.

Bahçeşehir University English Preparatory School with the collaboration with EnglishCentral continues to raise the quality of education and innovation perspective. This program helping students to learn English can be used via a computer with Internet connection, smart phones and tablet computers. The English Preparatory School’s Director Mehmet Atasagun said “we want with this Mobile English App Program that students spend their time more efficiently outside of class. Thanks to this program, which is fully compatible with the English Preparatory Program, students are able to repeat what they have learned in the classroom, by watching videos they can develop their ability of listening and with activities they are enriching their vocabulary”.

Organized in Watch, Learn and Talk categories, the EnglishCentral Program by watching videos provides students an understanding of the words usage.   In the talk category students by reading the words they have learned on videos through the microphone to the system can receive an instant feedback on the pronunciation of the word. Designed to support the Bahçeşehir University English Preparatory School education program and that can also be used as a dictionary, has a direct impact on the success of the students weekly vocabulary exams.

The student’s performance on the program can also be controlled by the teacher. One of the program users Oytun Erdoğan said “After starting to use the program I saw that my English word knowledge had increase and I said fortunately I got it. I think I will not only use the program during my preparatory education but also after the faculty and I would recommend it to all my student friends. The program showed me that English is a language that is actually fun”.
