Bahçeşehir University Conservatory at the Gümüşlük Festival!

Bahçeşehir University Conservatory met music lovers at the International Gümüşlük Music Festival with a theatrical concert titled "Introducing Beethoven."

"Introducing Beethoven," a theatrical concert by Bahçeşehir University Conservatory instructors regarded as a first of its kind, met classical music lovers on the stage of the 19th International Gümüşlük Music Festival. In this project, the works of Ludwig van Beethoven, one of the greatest composers in the world, were combined with scenes depicting the turning points of his life. In this original performance, which lasted about an hour, two violin and piano sonatas were brought together with three short theater scenes.

Moments and Memories That Inspired Beethoven's Masterpieces Met the Audience

Ludwig van Beethoven, who passed away 195 years ago, left behind not only unforgettable works but also a dramatic life story that would serve as an example to minds. In this concert, in which the turning points of that story were brought to life, entirely new details of Beethoven's music were discovered.

Beethoven's works were performed by Bahçeşehir University Conservatory Director Dr. Erman Türkili on violin and Head of the Music Department Prof. Dr. Hyun Sook Tekin on piano, while short scenes from Beethoven's life were performed by Adnan Ata Yiğit. Written and directed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Baş İyibozkurt, the performance added a new dimension to classical music recitals and was greatly appreciated by art lovers in Bodrum.

Full Support for Art and Artists from Bahçeşehir University

After the concert, Festival Art Consultant, pianist Gülsin Onay, expressed her thanks, saying, "We experienced a very different concept and a first for our festival: a theatrical music evening." She then invited Enver Yücel, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Bahçeşehir University (BAU), and Aslıhan Umar, Director of the Bahçeşehir University (BAU) Conservatory, to the stage. Chairman Yücel said, "As Bahçeşehir University, which always stands by art and artists, we want to support the International Gümüşlük Music Festival in its 20th year." Congratulating the artists in the concert and everyone who contributed to the festival, he said, "You are doing wonderful things." Meanwhile, Turkish folk music artist Ümit Tokcan came to the stage and performed the folk song "Hekimoğlu."

Speaking before the concert, BAU Conservatory Director Aslıhan Umar said, "This is an innovative project because it is a theatrical concert that combines theater and acting with music. We are very excited about it. It is a joint project of the faculty members of our music and performing arts departments. Our faculty members took part in every stage, from scriptwriting and directing to acting and the recital. As a university, we are happy to support projects like this. Bringing masters and apprentices together at festivals like this makes us very happy."

"It Became a Project That Appeals to Every Audience"

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Baş İyibozkurt, faculty member at the Department of Performing Arts of Bahçeşehir University Conservatory, said, "First of all, we are very excited. We are a team of five. This project started under the leadership of our Head of the Music Department. We aimed to create a concert that enriches classical music concerts with theater. We had a long period of work for this. We drew on documentaries and books. In the end, we wrote short scenes. In this process, I tried to include the periods that shaped Beethoven's life. It became a project that appeals to every audience without losing its poetic language." Festival Art Consultant, pianist Gülsin Onay, concluded, "In its 19th year, the festival is hosting a very important event. I have been the consultant of this festival for 19 years, and we have brought our festival to audiences without any interruption. I am also the consultant of the Bahçeşehir University Conservatory, and our relationship continues throughout the year. Inviting them to this event as an educational institution made us very happy, and we are excited to share a beautiful evening. We were delighted that Mr. Enver Yücel joined us. Since it is a different project, everyone will leave happy and with a new experience. The Ancient Stone Quarry has a very distinctive atmosphere, rarely seen anywhere in the world."
