Bahçeşehir University Oral and Dental Health Hospital opens

Bahçeşehir University (BAU) Oral and Dental Health Hospital has opened its doors in Beşiktaş, Istanbul. The hospital, where diagnosis and treatment will be provided by an expert academic staff using state-of-the-art equipment, artificial intelligence, and digital dentistry applications, will also make a significant contribution to health tourism.

Continuing its academic and R&D work to help Türkiye gain a stronger voice in international health tourism, Bahçeşehir University (BAU) has made a significant investment in the oral and dental health sector. The Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Dentistry Oral and Dental Health Hospital, equipped with the latest technological devices and staffed by an expert academic team, was opened with a ceremony. The opening was attended by BAU Chairman of the Board of Trustees Enver Yücel, SEY Foundation Honorary Chair Semra Yücel, BAU President Prof. Dr. Esra Hatipoğlu, BAU Faculty of Dentistry Dean Prof. Dr. Selçuk Basa, BAU Oral and Dental Hospital Chief Physician Dt. Ezgi Yüceer Çetiner, academics, guests, and students.

A SIGNIFICANT INVESTMENT FOR TÜRKIYE

Speaking at the ceremony, BAU Chairman of the Board of Trustees Enver Yücel said that, as Bahçeşehir University, they had made a significant investment in the oral and dental health sector. Stating that the hospital opened today is a gain for Türkiye, Yücel said: "Equipped with state-of-the-art devices and starting service with its expert academic staff, the BAU Oral and Dental Health Hospital is not only our gift to our country but will also establish its place in health tourism and welcome patients from various countries around the world. Here, we are also excited to bring together qualified scientists and key players in the healthcare sector. Our expert academic staff will care for every patient as if they were a member of their own family. Because both education and healthcare require effective communication, dedication, effort, and empathy. Every patient who comes here will first feel well and safe, and then continue their treatment with peace of mind. On the 100th anniversary of the Republic, we follow in the footsteps of the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk not by repeating his words but by taking action. This hospital is the greatest proof that we have taken action. We know and believe that without health, nothing is possible; neither the education you receive nor the experience you gain is of any use to you. For this reason, I consider investing in health in the public sphere to be, above all, a civic duty."

"WE WILL BE A STRUCTURE WITH HIGH SATISFACTION THAT PUTS SOCIAL BENEFIT FIRST"

Emphasizing that they are an institution that always sets an example through its work, BAU President Prof. Dr. Esra Hatipoğlu continued: "Our top priority for our hospital, which we have launched on the basis of trust, is to become a reliable institution that is among the most preferred nationally and internationally, with high service satisfaction and a focus on social benefit. Our successful initiatives in healthcare, multidisciplinary work, our achievements in complex cases, and our status as a reference hospital are also an indication that we are moving steadily toward this goal. Our University has students from 133 different countries. Considering our global standing as well, we believe that we can further boost health tourism with our hospital."

"WE APPLY ALL TREATMENT METHODS FOR EVERY CONDITION INVOLVING THE HEAD AND NECK REGION"

BAU Faculty of Dentistry Dean Prof. Dr. Selçuk Basa said: "We are an ambitious institution both nationally and internationally. With our Faculty of Dentistry and our newly opened hospital, we are taking this ambition one step further. We are very strong in education. We have an innovative, research-based approach. As a hospital, we have remarkable physical facilities. We have opened an extremely modern hospital in Beşiktaş, the heart of Istanbul. As a fully specialized hospital, we apply all treatment methods not only in the familiar areas of dentistry but for every condition involving the head and neck region. This will be both a trauma center and a treatment center for oral and jaw cancers. For example, we will be performing surgical treatment of war injuries. In addition, we will offer treatment for facial pain and jaw joint pain."

"WE MEET ALL NEEDS IN ACADEMIC AND PATIENT SERVICES"

BAU Oral and Dental Hospital Chief Physician Dt. Ezgi Yüceer Çetiner said the following about the services they will provide: "Our hospital is equipped with modern technology and provides all treatments in every branch of dentistry. We are capable of meeting all needs both academically and in state-of-the-art patient services. Surgical, aesthetic, and restorative procedures can be performed for both children and adults. From the very beginning, we planned with our international patients in mind as well. All treatments will be carried out quickly in a single building. We can welcome 1,500 patients a day. This is also a dental campus. We are very happy that our hospital has opened. We welcome all patients in need of treatment to our hospital."

At the hospital, where advanced dental procedures can be performed in all branches, the use of cone beam computed tomography devices providing three-dimensional imaging, in addition to two-dimensional imaging systems, as well as portable and console ultrasound devices, allows a complete diagnosis before all interventional procedures. The hospital also offers digital dentistry and dental laser applications, microscopic endodontic and surgical procedures, and orthodontic treatments such as clear aligner therapy carried out using three-dimensional imaging and intraoral scanners. At the hospital, which has a 5-bed ward unit for the postoperative care of patients treated under general anesthesia, all interventional procedures concerning the oral, jaw, and facial complex can be performed painlessly and aesthetically.

AI-SUPPORTED EDUCATION AND TREATMENT APPROACH

Setting out with the mission of becoming an internationally recognized center, the BAU Oral and Dental Health Hospital will also make a significant contribution to health tourism through the services it provides to international patients. The hospital enables Faculty of Dentistry students to receive clinical training in addition to their theoretical education. While developing their professional knowledge and skills in the clinical and professional skills laboratory and the dental prosthesis technology laboratory, students also have the opportunity to perform the necessary treatment procedures on simulated patients in the Faculty's Dentistry Simulation Laboratory and to experience the density of dental tissues with a realistic sense of touch in the Virtual Reality and Haptic Simulation Laboratory.
