Important Information on the Bahçeşehir University 2020-2021 Academic Year

Dear Students,

As of Monday, 12 October 2020, our academic year at Bahçeşehir University will begin and our campuses will be open to you, our dear students.

We are proud to announce that our 2020-2021 academic year will begin on 12 October 2020, and that, as the BAU Family, we have worked intensively to improve the quality of all our education and service processes with our Hybrid University model, whose quality standards we have developed in line with international norms.

ABOUT THE EDUCATION MODEL

With the Hybrid Education model we have designed, courses and/or parts of courses that will be most effective in online systems will be delivered through our institutional online systems, whose infrastructure and content we have strengthened, or through our newly established hybrid classrooms. While all students will attend courses on our online systems online, in our hybrid classrooms students may actively take part either in class or online, as they wish. In line with the framework set by YÖK, the share of online courses in our programs does not exceed 40% in our new model. In addition, the parts of courses designed as hybrid and including face-to-face teaching on our campuses that will be delivered with online support do not exceed 40% of the course hours of these courses. We are designing your face-to-face learning experience on our campuses mainly around laboratories, practical work, workshops, events and project work, so that you benefit from it as much as possible.

ABOUT THE PREPARATORY SCHOOL

Our English Preparatory education has likewise been designed according to the hybrid education model and will continue at the Bahçeşehir University Kemerburgaz Campus. At our preparatory campus, a learning life away from negative factors awaits you, with spaces integrated with nature, outdoor sports areas and common living spaces themed around science, technology, art, sports and design. Transportation to our campus will be provided by shuttles from the Bahçeşehir University Beşiktaş South Campus and the Zincirlikuyu Metrobus stop. We are also opening the UniTown dormitories, with a capacity of 403, on our Kemerburgaz campus. On this new campus, we have prepared an environment enriched by sports, arts, library facilities and social life for you.

ABOUT PANDEMIC MEASURES

The measures we have taken during the COVID-19 pandemic, which has deeply affected the whole world, have been determined and implemented under the leadership of the BAU Scientific Advisory Board, particularly regarding temperature checks at campus entrances, social distancing, mask use and disinfection.

We are constantly monitoring the pandemic and working with all our units to adapt immediately to every possible development and every guidance from YÖK, so that you can benefit from quality, safe and uninterrupted education. Classroom layouts, social areas, support units and frequently used areas have been rearranged according to pandemic conditions. Please remember that the physical and mental health of you and all our staff is always our first priority.
