A Bridge of Flavors from BAU to Peru!

A Bridge of Flavors from BAU to Peru!

Chef Christian Bravo, who has introduced Peruvian cuisine to the world, came to Istanbul from Peru, the South American country thousands of kilometers away, at the invitation of our gastronomy department to give a "Master Class / Demo Class" to Bahçeşehir University Gastronomy students.

Meeting our BAU Gastronomy and Culinary Arts students over 2 days, the chef introduced them to the flavors of Peruvian cuisine, one of the most popular cuisines in the world.

Emphasizing the importance of development in gastronomy and noting that shrinking agricultural land has a negative impact, Bravo said that dishes should be reduced to their simplest and most natural form.

Bravo, who both introduced Peruvian cuisine and had the chance to discover Turkish cuisine, was most impressed by şalgam, one of our famous drinks. Sharing many Peruvian recipes with the students, Bravo used şalgam in "ceviche", a dish from his culture. Very pleased with the resulting taste, the famous chef thus brought şalgam into Peruvian cuisine.
