ANIM.IST Films Leave Their Mark on the Golden Boll Film Festival

Films produced through the training programs of ANIM.IST - Istanbul Animation Platform made their mark this year at the Adana Golden Boll Film Festival, with three films nominated in the Student Short Films Animation Category.

First launched in 2018 as a festival within the Bahçeşehir University Department of Cartoon and Animation to promote the art and profession of animation through good examples and to bring new energy to the sector by building new connections, ANIM.IST grew in 2021 with the support of the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Industry and Technology and the Istanbul Development Agency, becoming the Istanbul Animation Platform. Films produced through the training programs of the platform, which aims to raise awareness of the cultural, social and economic value of animation, made their mark this year at the Adana Golden Boll Film Festival, with three films nominated in the Student Short Films Animation Category.

Over months of countless seminars, workshops, training and production, teams of participants who are curious about animation, passionately devoted to it or pursuing it as a profession completed an 18-month training program run in partnership by Bahçeşehir University, the Istanbul Governorship, TRT Çocuk and the Visual Effects and Animation Artists Association, and produced seven short animated films on a wide range of subjects for different audiences using various animation techniques such as stop-motion, 2D, 3D, traditional and hybrid: Bulut, Magus Baba'nın Mavi Maymunu, Nefes, No More Princess, Özgürlük, A Christmas Present and Zıplanacak Binbir Yer.

Among these films, "A Christmas Present" directed by Esin Gülsevil, "Magus Baba'nın Mavi Maymunu" directed by Rümeysa Bora and "Nefes" directed by Şule Barman and Erdem Boz competed for first place in the Student Short Films Animation Category at this year's Adana Golden Boll Film Festival, and the team behind Nefes took home the award.

In addition to first place in the Golden Boll Film Festival Animation Category, we congratulate all ANIM.IST-produced films and participating teams that were selected for screenings or won awards at the Kocaeli Film Festival, Ankara Film Festival, Kayseri Film Festival and İzmir Film Festival on their successful productions.
