Our Student Arınç Arısoy at the Golden Orange Film Festival

"Yangın Yerinde Orkideler" (Orchids in the Fire), with cinematography by our Department of Photography student Arınç Arısoy, has been selected for the National Documentary Film Competition of the 57th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival this year.

Painter and photographer Ali Arif Ersen begins to live a life imprisoned in his own body after suddenly being struck by locked-in syndrome. Left bedridden after this tragic event with only the ability to blink his left eye, and having lost the ability to speak, swallow and make all other voluntary muscle movements, Ersen finds ways to hold on to life through his desire for art and creation. With his colorful personality, the favorite of everyone around him, Ersen continues to surprise his friends and share his passion for food with them. Communicating by moving a laser attached to his glasses over letters, he begins to draw digital pictures with his eyes.

We congratulate our student and everyone who contributed to "Yangın Yerinde Orkideler", the film about Ersen's journey, and wish them continued success.
