Announcement on the Transfer Process to Non-Thesis Programs for Students Who Failed the Thesis Course

INFORMATION NOTICE ON THE TRANSFER PROCESS TO NON-THESIS PROGRAMS FOR STUDENTS WHO FAILED THE THESIS COURSE

Within the scope of the Bahçeşehir University Graduate Education and Training Regulations, detailed information on the transfer process to non-thesis programs for students who have failed the thesis course, including important dates and transfer requirements, is provided below.

2. Requirements for Transfer to a Non-Thesis Program for Students Who Failed the Thesis Course

Article 14/10 of the Bahçeşehir University Graduate Education and Training Regulations, under the heading "Conclusion of the Master's Thesis," states:

"If the student whose thesis is rejected so requests, a non-thesis master's diploma shall be awarded, provided that the student has fulfilled the course credit load, project writing and similar requirements of the non-thesis master's program. If there is no approved non-thesis counterpart of the thesis master's program, the student shall, by decision of the Executive Board of the Graduate School, be transferred to the non-thesis program most closely related to the thesis program, and the diploma shall be issued by the non-thesis program to which the student has been transferred. Such students shall be granted a maximum of one additional semester to complete any deficiencies. Students who have reached the maximum period of study may not benefit from student rights."

Accordingly:

• Students registered for the Thesis-2 course must have received a grade of "U" for the course, entered by their Thesis Advisor. Applications for which the Thesis-2 course grade does not appear as "U" in the system will not be processed.
• Registration for applications approved for transfer to a non-thesis program will be completed for the semester following the current semester.
• In transfers from a thesis program to a non-thesis program, students will be granted a maximum of one semester for the new program.
• Applications for leave of absence cannot be made during this additional semester.
• After transferring to the non-thesis program, students must not withdraw from the courses they take.
• The "Courses Requested for Exemption" section of the transfer form will be approved by the Program Coordinator.
• Applications must be submitted in person, and transfer forms must be delivered with wet signatures to the Student Affairs Unit of the Graduate School.
• Students residing abroad or outside the city may send their signed transfer forms in PDF format by email to selen.ekinci@bau.edu.tr or gunay.korucu@bau.edu.tr.
