ISTKA-Supported Computational Drug Design Center Approved by YÖK

The Computational Drug Design Center (HİTMER), established by the Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Medicine with the support of the Istanbul Development Agency (İSTKA) to make Istanbul a center of attraction in the global pharmaceutical industry, has been approved by the Presidency of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).

At the center, supported by İSTKA under the 2021 Innovative Istanbul Financial Support Program, personalized medicines and treatment options are being developed.

Established to increase R&D activities in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors in Türkiye and to conduct scientific studies at the international level, the Computational Drug Design Center operates in a 286 m2 area on the Göztepe Campus of the Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Medicine.

The center, to which the Medipol University Faculty of Health Sciences has also contributed, was approved by the Presidency of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) on 1 December 2023.

At the Computational Drug Design Center, computer-aided drug design studies are carried out to develop personalized treatments with fewer side effects for various diseases.

The center, which carries out scientific collaborations with many institutions in Türkiye and abroad, plans to file national and international patent applications.

HİTMER also aims to train researchers who can design drugs using artificial intelligence technologies.
