Department of Cinema and Television Meets the Industry

The radical transformation brought about by the digital age, in the midst of which we find ourselves at a very important transition period in the history of cinema and television, has paved the way for a shift from conventional cinema to a new mode of production expressed by the concept of "Digital Cinema." Meanwhile, during the COVID-19 pandemic that has gripped the world since 2019, 75-90 percent of productions worldwide were negatively affected, showing that digital transformation has become inevitable for the film industry.

It is not difficult to predict that a transformation marking an important transition period in the history of cinema and television and affecting the world's most influential mass media will change the creative industries on a global scale. When drawing conclusions about the future of cinema, assessing the current situation is extremely important.

Through common-mind meetings to be organized by the Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Communication Department of Cinema and Television with those who shape the industry, the pulse of this transformation will be taken and ways will be sought to make improvements for the industry in the world and in Türkiye. In the common-mind meetings, to be held in two separate sessions, "Are Online Contents Changing the Aesthetics of Cinema?" and "Content Production on Online Platforms: What Does the Audience Want?", ideas will be exchanged with industry professionals on how the future of cinema will take shape on an international and national scale.

The session titled "Content Production on Online Platforms: What Does the Audience Want?" will host GAİN Content Director for Programs and Documentaries Çınar Oskay, TRT New Media Channel Coordinator Hakan Söğüt, BluTV New Original Content Director Müge Turalı and EXXEN General Manager Ümmü Burhan.

The session "Are Online Contents Changing the Aesthetics of Cinema?" will feature leading names of the industry: Director and Screenwriter Alper Mestçi, Director Ceylan Özgün Özçelik, Targa Film Visual Effects Producer Demet Sert Ercan, Actor and Screenwriter Devin Özgür Çınar, Director Engin Ayça, Actor and Screenwriter Engin Günaydın, Actor, Screenwriter and Director Ercan Kesal, Director and Actor Ezel Akay, Producer Nisan Ceren Özerten, Actor and Director Onur Saylak, Director and Screenwriter Tolga Karaçelik, Producer Tanay Abbasoğlu and Creative Producer Yamaç Okur.
