Sociology of Earthquakes in Türkiye
"Although an earthquake is a natural phenomenon, for us it is a social trauma. A sociology of earthquakes is necessary to understand and critique the earthquake and what lies beyond it in Türkiye, and for a new beginning."Inspired by these words of Prof. Dr. Ulaş Sunata, an open lecture series on the Sociology of Earthquakes consisting of 11 sessions was organized by the Bahçeşehir University Center for Migration and Urban Studies (BAUMUS).
Held between March and May, the Sociology of Earthquakes open lecture took place every Thursday evening from 20:00 to 22:00 to offer a comprehensive perspective on earthquakes in our country. Each week, sessions were held under different special themes, with three invited speakers in the first hour, always followed by an hour of Q&A.
