BAU Faculty of Dentistry Students to Observe Global Dental Practices
Closely following the direction dentistry is taking around the world, Bahçeşehir University (BAU) Faculty of Dentistry and the BAU Dentistry Oral and Dental Health Center offer students the opportunity to get to know dental practices around the world.
In the new faculty building, suited to theoretical and practical education and located in the Balmumcu neighborhood of Beşiktaş in the heart of Istanbul, students will receive their theoretical education with a multidisciplinary approach and complete their practical training at the Oral and Dental Health Center.
Recognizing that oral health is an integral part of general health, BAU Faculty of Dentistry will offer a distinctive education with its "Holistic Patient Treatment Approach" and its Expanded Curriculum, which also includes "Digital Dentistry" applications that have emerged from current technological developments. With the educational technologies of the future, BAU students will become competent dentists in these areas by using components of digital dentistry, such as intraoral scanners, CAD-CAM systems, clinical dentistry software and VR/AR applications, effectively during their preclinical and clinical training.
Internship Opportunities at Clinics in Switzerland, Germany and the United Kingdom
With the vision of being an internationally recognized leading faculty that provides high-quality education and original work in dentistry, values digital and technological developments and plans to carry out R&D in this area, BAU Faculty of Dentistry aims to train dentists who have proven themselves internationally, and it also offers students comfortable working environments that meet international institutional and academic standards. Students will have the opportunity to do internships in countries such as Switzerland (EE Orthodontics SA), Germany (Be Dental) and the United Kingdom (The London Centre for Implant & Aesthetic Dentistry), at clinics with strong academic staff and new, high-technology equipment in all areas of dentistry, contributing to their academic, social and cultural development.
An Opportunity to Get to Know Dental Practices Around the World
Thanks to the International Clinical Internship Program, organized to bring dentistry students together with the global dental community and introduce them to global dental practices, students will have the opportunity to get to know dental practices around the world beyond the local and to observe the work on site.
Students participating in the International Clinical Internship Program will collect and interpret information on how patients are treated under the guidance of internationally experienced dentists. After completing the program, students will be able to present their observation report at the Bahçeşehir University (BAU) Faculty of Dentistry Research Day.
In this special program, which aims to support students' preclinical professional development by offering them an interactive experience in healthcare settings in different cultures, participants will also gain experiences such as Participation in Clinical Treatment Processes, Communication with Individuals from Different Cultures, First-Hand Knowledge and Patient Experience, Program Structure, and "Clinical Observership" at Private Clinics in Three Different Countries.
Fully Equipped, High-End Laboratories
In the Digital Dentistry, Histology, Physiology and Anatomy Laboratories, which contain all the necessary equipment and are large enough for students to practice comfortably, students will gain a wide range of experience, from following developing digital dentistry technologies to evaluating the tissues that make up the human body, histological layers and their cellular contents through microscopes.
Students, who will also have the opportunity to evaluate the functions of the cells, tissues, organs and systems that make up the human structure, the mechanisms by which these functions are performed, cause-and-effect relationships and the relationships of these structures with one another, will get to know the anatomical structure of the human body more closely by combining their theoretical knowledge with visual learning on mock-ups and models.
