ANIM.IST Animations Meet the Audience

ANİM.İST was launched in 2018 as a festival to introduce the art and profession of animation through good examples, revitalize the sector by building new connections, and raise awareness of the cultural, social and economic value of animation; it continued as a festival with national and international guests in 2019 and 2021.

In 2021, with the visionary support of the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Türkiye and the Istanbul Development Agency for the creative industries, it was renamed the Istanbul Animation Platform. Transforming into an animation education and production center in partnership with Bahçeşehir University, the Governorship of Istanbul, TRT Çocuk and the Association of Visual Effects and Animation Artists, it embarked on a new 18-month journey. On this amazing journey, our destination went far beyond supplying the animation sector with a competent workforce of animation screenwriters, producers, directors, concept designers, vertical editors and animators.

Over months of countless seminars, workshops, training and production, we became true companions of people who are curious about animation, passionately attached to it and aspire to make it their profession. These companions produced 7 short animations covering a wide variety of subjects and audiences using different animation techniques such as stop-motion, 2D, 3D, traditional and hybrid: Bulut, Magus Baba's Blue Monkey, Nefes, No More Princess, Özgürlük, New Year's Gift, and A Thousand and One Places to Jump. In addition, "ANIM.IST Rhymes: Producer, Director, Screenwriter, Concept Designer, VFX Artist, Animator", developed jointly with young rap musicians, introduces animation professions in rap format.

The Istanbul Animation Platform, whose trainers and mentors were industry professionals, which received the support of leading institutions in the animation sector, and whose participants were predominantly women, is honored to have introduced more than one hundred new talents to the wonderful universe of animation.

On Tuesday, 6 June, at 18:30, all these wonderful animations met the audience at a gala at Atlas Cinema, under the roof of the Istanbul Cinema Museum, a landmark of great importance for Turkish cinema.
