Fatma Öncel Presented Her New Research at Abbasi Annual Conference '24

At the conference held on 22-23 November 2024, Abbasi Annual Conference '24: "The Sarrafs: Money, State, and Finance Dealers in the Ottoman Empire (1700-1900)", OTAM faculty member Fatma Öncel presented her new research titled "Sarraf in the Borderlands: The Effects of War Finance on the Land Market in the Ottoman-Greek Border". The study examines the effects of war finance on the land market in the Ottoman-Greek border region. Bringing together border and property studies with digital humanities, the research uses mapping, network analysis and text analysis methods.
