Illustrators Platform Workshops Begin
The Illustrators Platform, one of Türkiye's most important social initiatives and among the partners of our Faculty, has launched another project that it believes will contribute to the professional definitions and standards and the legal rights, and therefore the active work, of artists working in illustration and all other disciplines that illustration touches.
Through workshops dedicated to 11 separate committees, the first of which will be held online on 17 December 2020, the academic and professional rights of artists working in illustration will be truly discussed for the first time.

I DEFINE MY PROFESSION, I DEFEND MY RIGHTS
With this slogan, a comprehensive series of workshops for artists and designers working in illustration and all disciplines that illustration touches is being held for the first time in Türkiye's history. Efforts supporting the Establishment of the Professional and Legal Infrastructure of Illustration and Increasing Its Contribution to the Development of Cultural Industries are promising for illustrators' future.
The workshop series, led by the Platform's founding president Nurgül Şenefe, consists of 11 committees. The committee chairs* include leading masters of the sector such as Erol Güneş, Ethem Onur Bilgiç, Işık Güner, Kenan Yarar, Korkut Akaçık, Prof. Dr. Nazlı Eda Noyan, Necmi Yalçın, Mustafa Delioğlu, Münin Durmaz, Serhat Filiz and Serkan Özay. (*in alphabetical order)
The first preparatory meeting for the workshop with the committee chairs was held on 30 September 2020 and 4 November. The project, which will continue its workshops for three months by focusing on each committee, will be online and open to the public. You can follow the workshop dates on the Illustrators Platform Instagram and Facebook accounts.
The main objective of the workshop will be to improve professional definitions, professional and legal rights, and commercial practices. The workshop will raise awareness of illustrators' legal and professional rights among both those who do the work and employers, and will create cross-sector awareness.
Platform founding president Nurgül Şenefe, who stated that "our most fundamental goal in the workshop series, carried out with the support of the BAU Faculty of Communication, ZNN Network and the members of the Illustrators Platform advisory board, and with the knowledge of the relevant departments of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye and the Vocational Qualifications Authority (MYK) of the Ministry of Labor, is to reach sound results through collective intelligence and joint decision-making," noted that the Illustrators Platform is a non-profit social initiative project.
Open free of charge to every artist and aspiring artist who defines themselves as an illustrator, the platform, together with its association members and strong supporters such as universities and non-governmental organizations, continues to lead, online and offline, the development of illustration as a profession in Türkiye and the creation of its own distinct field...
"Our Illustrators Platform appeals more and more every day to illustrators of diverse styles, techniques and experience. With our illustrators who reach us from all over Türkiye, we have become a big family, and we continue to grow.". “
