3rd Bahçeşehir University Liver Days: Transplant & Oncology Successfully Held
Hosted by the Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Medicine, the 3rd Bahçeşehir University Liver Daysbegan on 5 April with the opening speech of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and was successfully completed as a one-day symposium.
This year, the event was held with the theme "Transplant & Oncology" and addressed current diagnostic and treatment approaches for primary and metastatic liver cancers and the role of organ transplantation in this process from an interdisciplinary perspective. The symposium stood out for its high academic level and wide-ranging scientific content.
The event featured Türkiye's leading experts in medical oncology, general surgery, radiology, radiation oncology, molecular pathology and gastroenterology. In interactive panel sessions based on real clinical cases, multidisciplinary case discussions allowed a comprehensive evaluation of the role of each specialty in diagnosis and treatment.
Held with the support of the Turkish Society of Medical Oncology, the Turkish Surgical Association, the Turkish Association for the Study of the Liver and the Radiation Oncology Societies, and with the participation of their presidents, the event highlighted the growing importance of organ transplantation in liver cancers. Practical challenges and alternative management strategies were also discussed within the framework of current guidelines.
At the invitation of organizing committee members Umut Demirci, Gökhan Kabacam, Fatih Selçukbiricik, Levent Doğanay and Hikmet Akkız, approximately 40 academics from 14 universities in Türkiye, led by Bahçeşehir University, as well as international guest faculty members, attended the event.
International participants included Karim Halazun of New York University, Henrik Petrowsky (MD, FEBS (HPB), FACS) of the University of Zurich and Silvio Nadalin of the University of Tübingen .
This valuable gathering once again demonstrated the impact of scientific collaboration and an interdisciplinary approach in the field of liver cancers, laying the groundwork for future academic and clinical studies.
