E-Sports Culture Courses Have Started

The e-sports courses offered by BAU each year under a different theme are being taught this year by Nesligül Deniz Kolaşinli, Global Education Director of the Sweden-based e-sports education company Learn2Esports.

Interest in the e-sports ecosystem, which grows every year, continues to increase day by day. In e-sports, a field made up largely of young people, it is just as important for young people to make informed decisions and receive guidance. At Bahçeşehir University, where courses under different titles are offered in e-sports every year, classes began again this year with the spring semester. The main theme of the courses, offered for the fifth time this year, is "E-Sports Culture." The courses are taught by Nesligül Deniz Kolaşinli, Education Director of Learn2Esports Global, which was founded in 2016 to support the e-sports culture and education of students in Sweden and EU countries.

IMPORTANT FOR AN E-SPORTS CAREER

With growing global interest and very large budgets, e-sports is now seen not merely as a game but as a giant industry with international operations. Acting with this understanding, Bahçeşehir University continues the courses it launched to examine and properly understand e-sports at the undergraduate level, aiming to close the education gap in the ecosystem. Through courses that train students who want to build a career in e-sports, students with player potential are also guided in the best possible way. The courses offered to BAU students who want to be part of the e-sports world are delivered online this year by Nesligül Deniz Kolaşinli, regarded as one of the most experienced names in the sector.

"OUR GOAL IS TO UNLOCK THE POTENTIAL OF GAMES AND PLAYERS"

Drawing attention to the large young population in Türkiye interested in digital games and e-sports, Nesligül Deniz Kolaşinli said: "Directing this strong interest to the right place is only possible by being well equipped enough to make informed decisions. Examining and properly understanding e-sports, which has become a global phenomenon, especially at the undergraduate level, will provide a foundation for breaking down negative perceptions about gaming, seeing e-sports not just as playing a game well but as a giant industry with international operations, accurately analyzing the activities taking place behind the scenes, and guiding students toward careers in this field. With this course, our goal is to spark curiosity and direct it properly on the way to unlocking our tremendous game and player potential."

The "GEP0312 Special Topics in E-Sports" course, offered at BAU every spring semester, was previously delivered both theoretically and practically with Riot Games Türkiye in the 2017–2018 spring semester, with the Supermassive E-sports team in the 2018–2019 spring semester and with the gaming and e-sports agency Gaming in Turkey in the 2019–2020 spring semester.
