First Leg of the BAUISC Spring Trophy Held

The Fişekhane Sailing Cup, held as the first leg of the BAUISC Spring Trophy, took place this year on 26 March at Fişekhane, İstanbul's hub for culture, arts, gastronomy and well-being.

The first sailing races of the spring season began at Fişekhane, which has become İstanbul's new meeting point for culture, arts, gastronomy and well-being. In the race, which started on Saturday, 26 March as the first leg of the BAUISC Spring Trophy, nearly 50 sailboats competed fiercely on a new route this year in strong winds. For the Fişekhane Sailing Cup, the sailboats raced in close competition along a course set parallel to the coastline off Ataköy-Bakırköy-Zeytinburnu.

Included in the Turkish Sailing Federation's 2022 Activity Program and hosting many corporate teams as well as individual and amateur sailors, the Fişekhane Sailing Cup earned the title of the first yacht race in İstanbul this year. It was held as the first leg of the BAUISC Spring Trophy, which consists of 4 legs and sees dozens of boats compete every year.

Two different races were held throughout the day along the Ataköy-Bakırköy-Zeytinburnu coastline, where a buoy course planned for upwind-downwind sailing was set up.

The racing fleet, made up of boats of different sizes and models, was divided into IRC-0-1-2-3-4, Sportsboat and Cruising classes, and each boat was ranked within its class according to its rating. At the end of the races, an award ceremony was held at Fişekhane, where the top 3 teams in each class received their awards, followed by the first celebration of the yacht racing season attended by the sailors.
