Information on the Transition Between Thesis and Non-Thesis Programs

Within the scope of the Bahçeşehir University Graduate Education and Training Regulation, detailed information on important dates and the conditions for transition between thesis and non-thesis programs is provided below.

1. Important Dates

2. Conditions for Transition from a Thesis to a Non-Thesis Program

• To transfer at the end of the first semester, students must have completed at least 2 credit courses in the thesis master's program in which they are enrolled.
• To transfer at the end of the second semester, students must have completed at least 6 credit courses.
• Transfer applications cannot be made at the end of the third semester.
• Transfers are made within the available quota, based on a ranking by GPA.
• The "Courses Requested for Exemption" section of the transfer form must be completed by the Coordinator of the program to which the student is transferring.
• Applications are accepted in person; transfer forms must be submitted with wet signatures to the Graduate School Student Affairs Unit.
• Students residing abroad or outside the city may send their signed transfer forms in PDF format by e-mail to lee.oi@gs.bau.edu.tr.

3. Conditions for Transition from a Non-Thesis to a Thesis Program

• To transfer at the end of the first semester, students must have successfully completed at least 1 credit course in the non-thesis master's program in which they are enrolled.
• To transfer at the end of the second semester, students must have successfully completed at least 1 credit course.
• Transfer applications cannot be made at the end of the third semester.
• A minimum score of 55 in the relevant ALES score type is required.
• The ALES score is valid for 5 years.
• The "Courses Requested for Exemption" section of the transfer form must be completed by the Coordinator of the program to which the student is transferring.
• Applications are accepted in person; transfer forms must be submitted with wet signatures to the Graduate School Student Affairs Unit.
• Students residing abroad or outside the city may send their signed transfer forms in PDF format by e-mail to lee.oi@gs.bau.edu.tr.
• Transfers to thesis programs are not permitted from non-thesis programs without a thesis counterpart or from distance education programs.
• Ranking within the quota is calculated as 50% GPA and 50% ALES score.
