Information on the Transition to Non-Thesis Programs for Students Who Failed the Thesis Course

Within the scope of the Bahçeşehir University Graduate Education and Training Regulation, detailed information on the transition process, important dates and conditions for students who failed the thesis course to transfer to a non-thesis program is provided below.

2. Conditions for Transition to a Non-Thesis Program for Students Who Failed the Thesis Course

Article 14/10 of the Bahçeşehir University Graduate Education and Training Regulation, titled "Completion of the Master's Thesis," states: "If a student whose thesis is rejected so requests, a non-thesis master's diploma is granted provided that the student fulfills the course credit load, project writing and similar requirements of the non-thesis program. If there is no approved non-thesis program corresponding to the thesis program, the student is transferred to the closest non-thesis program by a decision of the Graduate School Board and the diploma is issued from that program. Applications for transition to a non-thesis program are valid for the semester following the one in which the failing grade was received. The student is granted a maximum of one additional semester to complete deficiencies."

Accordingly:

• The student registered in the Thesis-2 course must have received a "U" grade entered by the Thesis Advisor. Applications where the Thesis-2 grade is not "U" will not be evaluated.
• Approved applications for transition to the non-thesis program will be registered for the semester following the current one.
• Students transferring from a thesis to a non-thesis program are granted a maximum of one semester for the new program.
• After transferring to the non-thesis program, students may not withdraw from courses.
• The "Courses Requested for Exemption" section of the transfer form must be approved by the Coordinator of the program to which the student is transferring.
• Applications are accepted in person; transfer forms must be submitted with wet signatures to the Graduate School Student Affairs Unit.
• Students residing abroad or outside the city may send their signed transfer forms in PDF format by e-mail to lee.oi@gs.bau.edu.tr.
