BAU World Music Camp “Makam Tradition” Project Held in Istanbul

Organized on 21–25 October 2025 in collaboration with the Bahçeşehir University Conservatory and BAU International, the BAU World Music Camp “Makam Tradition” project successfully completed its first phase with the participation of musicians from Kazakhstan.
As part of the program, which aims to strengthen intercultural musical communication, training was delivered by distinguished academics and artists including Dr. İsmet Aydın, Dr. Nail Yavuzoğlu, Dr. Gülaram Baltayeva, Hakan Güngör, Burak Dursun and Rıza Can Özel.
The camp, in which young musicians from Kazakhstan engaged with the makam tradition of Turkish music, concluded with an impressive concert at BAU Pera Campus. This first phase of the project enabled the young musicians to reinterpret the makam tradition from a contemporary perspective.
The BAU Conservatory will continue to support intercultural artistic production through such projects that bring world music traditions together.
