A New Jean Monnet Center of Excellence from Bahçeşehir University: PLURIEX – Pluriversality in EU Studies

Bahçeşehir University is pleased to announce the launch of the PLURIEX – Jean Monnet Center of Excellence on Pluriversality in EU Studies (2025–2028), supported under the European Union's Jean Monnet Programme.

PLURIEX builds on the achievements of the Jean Monnet Chair on Feminist Epistemic Justice in the European Union and Beyond (FEJUST, 2022–2025) and aims to reframe EU studies with a more inclusive, interdisciplinary and pluralistic understanding. The Center makes visible that knowledge about Europe is produced across different geographies, disciplines and institutional practices.

A New Approach to EU Studies

PLURIEX is based on the following principles:

  • Opening space for diverse knowledge traditions,
  • Building bridges between academia, public institutions and civil society,
  • Placing the technical dimensions of Türkiye–EU relations at the center,
  • Supporting young researchers in research and publication processes.

Main Activities (2025–2028)

  • Academic Expert Panels
  • Young Researchers Workshops
  • Policy Expertise Seminars
  • January Writing Camps
  • Curriculum renewal and open-access course materials

By bringing together academics, public experts, civil society representatives and students, PLURIEX will offer a lasting academic platform for rethinking Europe together.

Project Team:

“We invite you to rethink Europe together.”

The PLURIEX team consists of researchers who advocate epistemic pluriversality in EU studies:

  • Rather than a single “European knowledge,” we place at the center a plural understanding of knowledge based on different disciplines, geographies, experiences and areas of expertise.
  • We work as a team that connects academia and the public, theory and practice, center and periphery, and local knowledge and international dialogue.

Our team reflects the plurality of the different knowledge communities that PLURIEX seeks to make visible.
