Erkan Oğur at BAU Conservatory: “Music and Before” Talk and TELVİN Concert

Erkan Oğur, one of the most distinguished masters of Turkish music and a highly esteemed musician, was a guest of the BAU Conservatory.

The special talk titled “Music and Before” was moderated by Prof. Dr. Cenk Güray, faculty member at Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory. The talk offered a comprehensive perspective on Oğur's musical journey, the deep-rooted sound traditions of Anatolia and his creative processes.

Following the talk, the TELVİN concert held at BAU South Campus brought together the distinctive sounds of Anatolian music with the improvisational language of jazz. At the concert, Erkan Oğur was accompanied by

Can Çankaya (piano),
Kaan Yıldız (double bass)
and Turgut Alp Bekoğlu (drums).

Extending from the deep sounds of Anatolia to the free spirit of jazz, this special evening once again reminded everyone of the unifying and transformative power of music.
