The 1st International Congress on Trauma Prevention Studies, organized by the World Human Relief Association under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Ayten Zara, was held with the contributions of BAUMUS and 24 different institutions.
Bringing together NGO representatives, psychologists, sociologists, legal professionals and activists, the congress stood out with its multifaceted and inclusive structure, focusing not only on understanding trauma but also on preventing it, increasing solidarity and building a common future.
The panel titled "To Remember or to Forget? Social Memory and the Limits of Healing", held as part of the congress, was moderated by Dr. Mukadder Okuyan. At the panel, Prof. Dr. Ulaş Sunata, Murat Çelikkan and Attorney Güçlü Sevimli made important assessments on social traumas, the function of remembering, the visibility of trauma and processes of social recognition.
In her talk titled "On the Memory of Disasters, Massacres and Genocides", Prof. Dr. Ulaş Sunata referred to the concept of "remembering that opens up to hope" and emphasized its vital role in building tomorrow.
As BAUMUS, we are delighted to have taken part in and contributed to such an inclusive congress, and we wish for just and hopeful tomorrows in which we heal our traumas without forgetting them.
