A conference with the participation of Dr. Hans Gert Gert Pöttering, Deputy of European Parliament and former president was held in Bahçeşehir University Berlin Campus with following topic; “The European Perspective: Values – Politics – Economy”
Dr. Pottering expressed his opinions about the issues all over the world and by emphasizing the importance of Turkey’s negotiation phase evaluated German Turkish relationship from a historical point of view. Dr. Pottering also mentioned about “European Identity” and explained about the transformation of cultural and national identities to transnational identities within the scope of “European Identity”.
Dr. Pottering explained the increasing strength of corporate and judicial structure of European Union, and explained their struggle on preventing the budgets of Erasmus and Youth Education Programs, which are supported within the scope of European Union from getting cut.
Dr. Pottering emphasized on the importance of historical awareness in order to establish peace among cultures and foretold a new project. He mentioned about European Culture Museum Project –initiated by him- to be located in the yard of European Parliament which shall be completed in 2015, and invited the lecturers and students of Bahçeşehir University in Brussels within the scope of this project. After his speech Dr. Pottering answered the questions from audience.
