First Step into Clinical Practice: BAU Faculty of Medicine Intern Orientation Program
Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Medicine will hold a comprehensive orientation program for sixth-year medical students who are about to begin their internship period, one of the most significant stages of their journey toward becoming physicians, on June 30 – July 1, 2026. Designed to provide students with a strong start to their clinical training, the two-day program aims to facilitate their adaptation to hospital practices and support their preparation for the professional responsibilities they will undertake as interns.
On the first day of the program, following opening remarks by the administrators of Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Medicine and its affiliated teaching hospital, students will receive information on key aspects of healthcare delivery, including hospital regulations, infection control, occupational health and safety, ethics committee procedures, the conduct of scientific research, employee safety, laboratory and transfusion center operations, information security and personal data protection, patient safety, and patients’ rights and privacy. Through sessions led by distinguished faculty members and healthcare administrators, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the clinical environment and the principles underlying safe and effective patient care.
The second day of the program will focus on the structure and expectations of the internship year. The Phase VI Coordination Office will introduce the overall internship framework, after which the Chairs of the Departments of Internal Medicine and Surgical Medical Sciences, together with clerkship coordinators, will meet with students to provide detailed information on the organization, educational objectives, and expectations of rotations in Emergency Medicine, General Surgery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Public Health, and Internal Medicine. In addition, students will be introduced to the Clinical Skills and Peer Education Program as well as the Clinical Observation and Peer Education Program, which constitute important components of their professional development throughout the internship year.
