Sails Race on the Bosphorus for the Spring Trophy
The Spring Trophy, organized by the Bahçeşehir University International Sailing Club (BAUISC), concluded with its final stage held on the Bosphorus. The Bosphorus Sailing Race, which serves as the final race of the series, was held for the 15th time this year as part of the 10th edition of the Spring Trophy. The race was officially started by Enver Yücel, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Bahçeşehir University.
Starting off the coast of Bahçeşehir University’s South Campus, the race followed the Beşiktaş–Arnavutköy–Anadolu Hisarı course. Recognized as one of the most challenging and prestigious sailing routes due to its strong currents, variable winds, and narrow waterway, the Bosphorus hosted more than 40 competing yachts.
Enver Yücel noted that the event was first launched by students 15 years ago and expressed pride that it continues today under the leadership of BAU alumni.
BAUISC President Ufuk Bektaş emphasized that the Spring Trophy has been organized continuously for the past 10 years and is made possible through the joint efforts of Bahçeşehir University students and graduates.
BAUISC Secretary General Mehmet Dinçer stated that the Bosphorus race marked the final stage of the four-leg sailing series and announced that the overall champions and VELA Cup winners would be awarded following the competition.
Held against the unique backdrop of the Bosphorus, the race delivered exciting moments for both sailors and spectators.
