Ancient melodies born on both shores of the Aegean—carrying traces of migration, longing, and everyday life—came together on the stage of BAU Conservatory, offering audiences a meaningful and emotionally rich musical experience. The deep cultural memory of Rebetiko and the living musical tradition of Laika were brought to life in Istanbul through a powerful repertoire reflecting a shared cultural past.
As part of the event, workshops led by renowned musicians Grigoris Vasilas and Yorgos Nikopoulos explored the historical development, performance practices, and cultural background of Rebetiko music. Participants also had the opportunity to engage in hands-on studies based on the traditional repertoire.
Through both the special concert and the two-day Rebetiko workshop held at BAU Conservatory, the cross-cultural power of music was once again emphasized and shared with audiences.
