Schizophrenia is a complex psychiatric disorder that affects an individual’s thoughts, perceptions, and behaviors, and research into its biological foundations continues to reveal new findings each day. Recent studies have demonstrated that polyamines, which play a critical role in cellular functions, and biochemical processes referred to as “polyamine stress” have significant effects on the central nervous system and neuropsychiatric disorders.
Hosted by the Faculty of Medicine at Bahçeşehir University, the conference titled “A New Approach to the Treatment of Schizophrenia: Polyamines and Polyamine Stress” will be held with the aim of discussing current scientific developments related to the pathophysiology of schizophrenia and exploring the potential role of polyamine metabolism in the development and treatment of the disorder. During the event, the effects of polyamines on the nervous system, possible mechanisms associated with schizophrenia, and the potential contributions of recent research findings in this field to future treatment approaches will be evaluated by Prof. Dr. İsmail Tayfun UZBAY, a distinguished academic in the field.
