The training program organized within the scope of the “Strengthening National Capacities for Responding to COVID-19 and Other Public Health Emergencies Project,” carried out in cooperation with the General Directorate of Public Health of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Türkiye and the World Health Organization Turkey Office, was held in Adana with the contributions of experts in their respective fields.
Within the scope of the training, Prof. Dr. Gülden Çelik, who stands out with her work in the field of infectious diseases, delivered a comprehensive presentation titled “The History of HIV Diagnostic Algorithms and Current Approaches.” Participants were provided with a detailed explanation of the development of HIV diagnostic processes over the years, the changing approaches in line with scientific advancements, and the fundamental principles of the diagnostic algorithms used today.
In the presentation, attention was drawn to the critical role of early diagnosis in terms of individual health outcomes and public health, while the importance of accurate and rapid diagnostic methods in controlling transmission was emphasized. In addition, the necessity of ensuring standardization in laboratory practices, strengthening quality control processes, and equipping healthcare professionals with up-to-date knowledge was highlighted.
