On Friday, 19 December 2025, we will host the talk “User Experience Design of Products in Automotive Sector” with Mehmet Mehmetalioğlu at BAU North Campus, B Block, 2nd floor – Material Library. The session will be moderated by Aslıhan Yılmaz.
Mehmet Mehmetalioğlu completed his initial design education at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in 2015. During his studies, he spent one academic year (2013–2014) as an exchange student at Hochschule für Gestaltung Schwäbisch Gmünd in Stuttgart, Germany.
After graduation, he joined Arçelik’s design team, where he worked for three years. He then continued his graduate studies at Umeå University in Sweden—one of the world’s leading institutions in design education—where he was accepted into the Advanced Product Design master’s program.
Following his master’s degree, he worked at internationally renowned design firms such as Whipsaw (San Francisco, USA) and IKEA (Älmhult, Sweden). He is currently based in Sweden, where he continues his professional career at Volvo Cars as an Industrial Designer & User Experience Designer.
Between 2020 and 2022, within a short two-year period, Mehmetalioğlu received 13 international design awards from some of the most prestigious organizations in the field, including Red Dot, iF Design, and Core77, for five different projects. With his personal project DTS 01, he became the first Turkish designer to win the Braun Prize, an award held every three years, which was personally presented to him by Dieter Rams.
In addition to his professional practice, Mehmetalioğlu has served as a project advisor at Umeå University and as a jury member for the Ezber Bozan Design Competition.
All students and interested participants are warmly invited!
