BAU Conservatory had the honor of hosting Erkan Oğur, a pioneering artist and one of the foremost masters of Turkish music.
The special talk titled “Music and Before”, moderated by Prof. Dr. Cenk Güray of Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory, offered participants an inspiring journey through Oğur’s artistic path, along with his creative processes and the deep-rooted sound traditions of Anatolia.
Following the talk, the TELVİN concert held at BAU’s South Campus featured a powerful fusion of Anatolian timbres and the spontaneous, expressive language of jazz. On stage, Erkan Oğur was accompanied by:
Can Çankaya (piano)
Kaan Yıldız (double bass)
Turgut Alp Bekoğlu (drums)
From the profound resonance of Anatolian soundscapes to the boundless freedom of jazz improvisation, this remarkable night once again highlighted music’s enduring ability to unite and transform.
