The first stage of the BAU World Music Camp “Makam Tradition” project, organized in collaboration between Bahçeşehir University Conservatory and BAU International, was successfully completed with the participation of musicians from Kazakhstan between October 21–25, 2025.
Aiming to foster intercultural musical dialogue, the program featured masterclasses and workshops led by distinguished artists and academics including Dr. İsmet Aydın, Dr. Nail Yavuzoğlu, Dr. Gülaram Baltayeva, Hakan Güngör, Burak Dursun, and Rıza Can Özel.
Young musicians from Kazakhstan had the opportunity to engage with the Turkish makam tradition, and the camp concluded with an inspiring concert held at BAU Pera Campus. This first stage of the project enabled participants to reinterpret the makam tradition through a contemporary lens.
BAU Conservatory will continue to promote intercultural artistic collaboration through projects that unite world music traditions and creative expression.
