ArchiDesign Talks is hosting its 2nd guest!
On October 24, we’re hosting Burçin Fatma Tunç Ildır for a talk titled “Learning from Japan's Shared Houses”. Burçin Fatma Tunç Ildır graduated from the Department of Architecture at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in 2011. During her undergraduate studies, she spent a semester at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam within the Erasmus exchange program. In 2015, she completed her master’s degree in the Architectural Design Program at Istanbul Technical University with a thesis titled “The Role of Participation in Polyphonic Spaces: The Kuzguncuk and Yedikule Orchards,” which she presented at the Spaces & Flows Conference in Chicago the same year. Since 2019, she has been pursuing her Ph.D. in the Department of Interior Architecture at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. In August 2025, as part of her doctoral research, she conducted a field study in Japan focusing on shared housing models. After seven years of professional experience at several architectural offices, including Nevzat Sayın and Selda Baltacı Architectural Studios, she began her academic career in 2019. She currently works as a lecturer at Haliç University, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design. Her research interests include participatory design approaches, the traditional Turkish house, the traditional Japanese house, and shared housing in Japan.
