The 16th Basic Course on Bone and Soft Tissue Tumors, organized by the TOTBID Bone and Soft Tissue Tumors Division and hosted by Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Medicine, will take place in Istanbul on September 26–27, 2025.
The course is chaired by Dr. Mert Çiftdemir with Dr. Evrim Şirin as secretary. Over two days, orthopedic surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, and oncologists are sharing current approaches in the diagnosis and treatment of bone and soft tissue tumors.
Day One: Bone Tumors and Reconstructions
The first day opens with “Bone Tumors – General Features”, addressing clinical findings, staging, radiological and histopathological evaluation, biopsy techniques, and surgical principles. In the session on “Benign Bone Tumors”, topics such as osteoid osteoma, osteochondroma, chondroblastoma, fibrous dysplasia, simple and aneurysmal bone cysts, and giant cell tumors are being discussed. The “Malignant Bone Tumors” session focuses on osteosarcoma, chondrosarcoma, Ewing sarcoma, chordoma, multiple myeloma, and lymphoma, alongside surgical and adjuvant treatment options. The day concludes with “Reconstructions”, where endoprosthetic and biological methods following tumor surgery are reviewed.
Day Two: Soft Tissue Tumors and Metastases
The second day begins with “Soft Tissue Tumors – General Features”, covering clinical manifestations, radiological evaluation, and pathological perspectives. Next, “Benign and Malignant Soft Tissue Tumors” highlights benign and locally aggressive lesions, soft tissue sarcomas, and adjuvant therapies. The final session, “Metastatic Bone Tumors”, focuses on treatment strategies for extremity, pelvic, and vertebral metastases, including both surgical and non-surgical approaches as well as radiotherapy.
* Through case presentations and interactive discussions, participants are reinforcing their knowledge and updating their clinical practice. With its multidisciplinary approach, the course provides a valuable scientific platform for both young physicians and experienced specialists.
