Bahçeşehir University Conservatory’s Ümit Tokcan Folklore Research and Application Unit continued its cultural event series “The Sound of Deep Roots” by focusing on the centuries-old Zeybek dance tradition from the İzmir and Aydın regions of Anatolia.
The event featured retired Ege University Conservatory lecturer Abdurrahim Karademir, Ege University graduate dancer Selim Özyol, and ITU Conservatory graduate dancer Efe Talu as guest speakers and performers. Their presentation was accompanied by Burak Aykaç on the cura bağlama. Additionally, Prof. Dr. Hyun Sook Tekin, faculty member of our Music Department, contributed with a performance of Adnan Saygun’s piano composition based on the Zeybek.
