On April 14, Archidesign Talks continues with its third event of the 2024–2025 Spring Semester.
In this event, we will host İrem Kurtuluş, Senior Urban Policy Expert & Architect at the Marmara Municipalities Union, for a talk titled “Empowering the Local for Resilience” moderated by Sezin Tanrıöver.
İrem Kurtuluş received her BArch from Bahçeşehir University and completed her master’s degree at University College London, The Bartlett School of Architecture, in the MSc Spatial Design: Architecture and Cities program. After participating in various architectural and urban-scale research projects in London and Istanbul, she has been working at the Marmara Municipalities Union (MMU) as a Senior Urban Policy Expert & Architect.
At MMU, she organizes regional and international events, training courses, and workshops on urbanization and governance, while also working as a co-editor of the institution’s periodical journal and publications. She has been part of the creative team behind the Marmara Urban Forum (MARUF), an international urban forum held biennially, where she is responsible for content related to the built environment, as well as the spatial design and organization of the venue.
Her research interests and areas of work include urban morphology, user behavior and perception, smart cities, urban resilience, and alternative construction methods and materials.
