BAU Pera, a key player in Istanbul’s cultural and artistic scene, was immersed in the magic of theatre last evening. The theatre event held at the Bahçeşehir University Conservatory brought together art lovers, creating unforgettable moments. With over 400 spectators in attendance, the evening was filled with excitement, as the power of performing arts resonated throughout the night.
When the curtains rose at 6:00 PM, the first performance was “TEK,” a play inspired by the life of Müfide Ferit Tekin. Written and directed by BAU Conservatory Stage Arts undergraduate student Yunus Emre Berber, the captivating production featured the performance of fellow conservatory student Mane Mara Maden. Enriched with musical touches from our Music Department students Tuna Bilgin and Hira Dide, the play made a powerful start to the evening.
Next, the stage was set for the satirical masterpiece “Çiçu” by the legendary writer Aziz Nesin. Directed under the supervision of Conservatory Assistant Director Buket Çelik, this production saw Yunus Emre Berber’s performance bringing both emotional and joyful moments to the audience.
The third piece of the evening was “Hippi Ana,” written by Nobel laureate Dario Fo. Directed by Aral Çelik, one of the first graduates of BAU Conservatory, the play received high praise for the performance of our undergraduate student Ecem Su Altunkaynak.
The special evening full of art concluded with a final touch of theatre history, with Bernard Slade’s unforgettable work “Same Time, Next Year.” The on-stage harmony between Ecem Su Altunkaynak and Yunus Emre Berber provided a powerful, heartfelt conclusion to the night.
This magical evening, bringing together theatre and art enthusiasts, ended with a standing ovation from the audience. Dr. İsmet Aydın, the Director of BAU Conservatory, expressed gratitude to everyone who participated, emphasizing that they will continue to gather under the light of art.
