The Marie Curie Alumni Association hosted an important conference as part of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. The panel, which took place at the Conference Hall of the Ahmet Keleşoğlu Science High School in Istanbul, was dominated by scientists who are experts in their fields.
The panel, which set out with the motto of Supporting Girls and Women; Integrating Art, Science and Well-being Beyond Borders, was moderated by Prof. Dr. Süreyya Akyüz, a faculty member at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at Bahçeşehir University and the Head of the Marie Curie Alumni Association Career Development Working Group, who has made a name for herself with her work.
Ataşehir District Governor Bekir Dınkırcı and Ataşehir District Director of National Education İsmail Yıldırım also attended the conference. The conference drew attention to the importance of supporting women and girls in science for the welfare and development of the country. The steps that need to be taken were discussed and the studies carried out were discussed.
In the first session of the panel, Turkey's leading female scientists Prof. Dr. Aytül Erçil and Assoc. Burcu Güngör gave inspiring speeches to women and girls. The second session of the panel was about the development of artificial intelligence today and how the process has evolved. In this session, Prof. Dr. Süreyya Akyüz, who draws attention with his studies in the field and is also the moderator of the program, made remarkable statements under the title of Using Mathematics in Engineering Problems and Artificial Intelligence. Kamil Kazım Sarı, a member of the Futurists Association, also shared information about the process of rapidly developing artificial intelligence.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Derya Gürses Tarbuck, who joined the panel online, gave presentations about the stories of female scientists who have made a name for themselves in the history of science, and Dr. Elonara Ricci and Houda Briwa gave presentations about their journeys to be included in the Marie Skłodowska Curie fund program as part of this important day.
The program once again drew attention to the importance of supporting girls and women in the fields of Science and Arts in the development and progress of a country.
