“Even though the earthquake is a natural event, it is a social trauma for us. Earthquake Sociology is necessary in order to understand, criticize and create a new earthquake in Turkey and beyond.” Based on the words of Prof. Dr. Ulaş Sunata, an open course series on Earthquake Sociology consisting of 11 sessions was held in the organization of Bahçeşehir University Center of Migration and Urban Studies (BAUMUS).
The Earthquake Sociology open course was held every Thursday evening from 20:00 to 22:00 between March and May in order to provide a comprehensive perspective on earthquakes in Turkey. Each week, meetings were held with three invited speakers in the first hour under different special headings, followed by one hour of Q&A sessions.
